Tooth decay
Tooth decay is nothing but damage to a tooth's surface, or enamel. It happens when bacteria in your mouth make acids that attack the enamel. Tooth decay can cause cavities (dental caries), which are holes in your teeth. If cavity isn't treated, it can cause pain, infection, and even tooth loss. Tooth decay, also referred to as cavity or cavities, may be a breakdown of teeth thanks to acids made by bacteria. The cavities could also be variety of various colors from yellow to black. Symptoms may include pain and difficulty with eating
Causes teeth to decay:
Major causes of cavity are sugary, sticky foods and beverages.
Poor Oral Hygiene: Not brushing your teeth regularly allows plaque to create up and attack the enamel.
Plaque Formation: When bacteria, acid, food particles, and saliva all combine in your mouth then plaque is formed
Tooth decay are often stopped or reversed at now. Using minerals from saliva and fluoride from toothpaste or other sources can repair enamel itself. But if the cavity process continues, more minerals are lost. A cavity is permanent damage that a dentist has got to repair with a filling.
Treatment options include:
1. Fluoride treatments. If your cavity just started, a fluoride treatment may help restore your tooth's enamel and may sometimes reverse a cavity within the very early stages.
2. Fillings
3. Crowns
4. Root canals
5. Tooth extractions.
Stages of Tooth Decay
* Stage 1: White Spots. The first stage of cavity begins when chalky white areas on the surface of the tooth appear thanks to the loss of calcium and build-up of plaque.
* Stage Two: Enamel Decay
* Stage Three: Dentin Decay
* Stage Four: Involvement of The Pulp
* Stage Five: Abscess Formation
* Stage Six: Tooth Loss
